A SECULAR group is meeting on September 25 for a non-denominational, non-religious celebration of community and humanity.
Sunday Assembly Reading are the most recently accredited branch of a nationwide organisation that provides a church like environment for those without a religious faith.
Although religious people of all creeds are welcome, the group focuses on scientific and humanist advancements in the relaxed environment of the Purple Turtle.
“Sunday Assembly is about building a community,” said group organiser Stephen Fenwick-Paul.
“Some people have described it to me as church without the spiritual aspect that sings '80s pop songs.
“I think that most people come along because they are looking for the right community or because they used to go to church but don't like the dogma.”
Come September 25 at 11am University of Reading's Professor Bob Rastall will deliver a lecture on food as medicine before the congregation breaks into a selection of 'Myth' based hits.
