READING FC footballer Yakou Meite should 'make a donation' after he recorded himself driving through a bus lane to avoid traffic, a police force wrote on Twitter.
The comments appeared on Thames Valley Police's roads policing department's Twitter page when the force was asked if it would take action against the Royals' star.
Earlier this week the Chronicle broke the story Meite filmed himself driving through a bus lane in Kings Road, Reading, because he was running late for training and he did not want to get fined by the club.
@lumpyelfring @ReadingFC Not a great example being set! Enforcement is done by @ReadingCouncil as such may have been dealt with. cont...

The footie ace appears not to be fussed about picking up a fine as he is seen driving past stationary traffic.
However, in his comments, Meite admits he is running late for training due to traffic, so he opts to take the fine for driving through the bus lane rather than receiving a hefty penalty for turning up late at Hogwood Park.
During the clip, which was shown on French website SFR, Meite, who joined the Royals this summer from French giants Paris Saint-Germain, says: "So, as you may see, leaving for practice at 8;20, England time. We will do this fast because we are playing at 9am, two games.
"In the morning, traffic is hectic so i give myself permission to use the bus lane because i can't get there late.
"I don't recommend you doing this at home, its not a good example to give but it's that or I will get fined."
Royals fans reacted to the player's actions on Twitter.

A spokesman for Reading Borough Council added: “We are fortunate to have excellent and popular local bus services that are relied upon by a great many Reading residents, either to get to and from work or to get around the town.
"Figures show many more people travel into Reading by public transport than by car and the Council enforces bus lanes at key stretches across the borough to help keep lanes clear for buses, reduce delays and make bus services as reliable as possible, which is essential in a busy town like Reading.
"All bus lanes have to be properly signed and marked on the basis of national regulations and are designed to ensure that private car drivers are given adequate warning to avoid them.”
