A YOUNG man found in a life-threatening condition has been rushed to hospital after emergency services were called to Baker Street.
Thames Valley Police and South Central Ambulance service were called a fear for welfare shortly after 8am. They found a 20-year-old suffering a medical emergency.
Police cordoned off the road by the junction with Russell Street whilst the ambulance service gave him urgent medical treatment.
A spokesman for the ambulance trust said: "The call came in a 8.08 this morning.
"It was a medical emergency and we sent two ambulance crews and an ambulance officer.
"They assessed and treated an patient in a life-threatening condition.
"The patient was taken on to the Royal Berkshire Hospital still in a life-threatening condition."
A police spokesman said: "Thames Valley Police officers were called today by the ambulance service at about 8.15am following reports of a fear for welfare incident in Baker Street, Reading.
"Officers attended the scene where a 20-year-old man was having a medical episode.
"The man received medical treatment at the scene and has been taken to hospital.
"Thames Valley Police officers have put road closures in place while emergency services are at the scene."
