A MAN whose body was pulled out of the River Thames this morning has tragically been declared dead.
Firefighters, paramedics and a police forensics unit could be seen at Caversham Lock, which was been sealed off by blue and white police tape.
Emergency services were called to the scene earlier this morning following reports from a member of a public that a body was in the river.
Once they arrived it immediately became clear that the man was dead. His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A police spokesman said: "TVP received a call shortly before 8am today reporting that the body of a man had been found in Caversham Lock, Reading.
"Officers attended and the body was recovered from the water. The man’s death is being treated as unexplained but is not believed to be suspicious at this time.
"A file will be prepared for the Coroner in due course."
It is the second time in the space of seven days that a body has been pulled out of the waterway in Reading.
