EMERGENCY services were called to the University of Reading on Tuesday after a blaze broke out.
Crews from across Berkshire were deployed to the Carrington Building on the Whiteknights Campus at around midday.
A spokesman for Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "We received reports of a fire at a building in Reading University.
"Firefighters used a hose reel to extinguish the fire that was affecting a roof-mounted solar panel. The crew were on the scene for around an hour."
A spokesman for the university added: "We can confirm the fire in the Carrington Building is out and everyone is safe.
"The building has now been reopened. Thanks to everyone for their cooperation and to RBFRS for their swift response."
