More than 50 people from Reading have now died of coronavirus, according to the latest statistics.
The number of deaths has more than doubled in the past week, increasing from 25 to 54, according to the latest Office for National Statistics (ONS) data.
Of the total deaths recorded by ONS:
- 37 people passed away in hospital
- 12 people died in care homes
- Three people passed away at home
- Another person died in a ‘communal establishment’

The ONS data includes deaths up to April 17 but that were registered up to April 25.
It includes all deaths where Covid-19 is mentioned as a cause on the death certificate, including suspected Covid-19.

Elsewhere, the latest figures from NHS England show 122 people have died under the care of the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust after testing positive for Covid-19.
These figures are recorded differently to those from ONS, and relate only to patients who have died in hospitals after a positive test for coronavirus.

The statistics do not specify a cause of death, and are recorded by trust rather than local authority.
