A SPECIAL new police recruit has been named in memory of heroic officer PC Andrew Harper.
PC Chris Green named his new police dog 'Harper' as a tribute to the 28-year-old Thames Valley Police (TVP) officer who was killed on duty in Reading last year.

His widow Lissie has been campaigning for 'Harper's Law', which would see criminals convicted of killing emergency services workers jailed for life.
It has recently got the backing of the National Police Chiefs’ Council as well as cross-party support in parliament.

TVP Fed posted a photo of 'Dog Harper' on its Twitter page, adding Lissie's response to the gesture, where she said: "What a beautiful dog!
"I am incredibly touched by this gesture and am looking forward to meeting Harper hopefully one day soon."

Responding to the post, Susan Underhill said: "TPD Harper is going to make an amazing PD - a first class officer just like his name sake PC Andrew Harper."
