Reading Ukrainian Centre have had to stop taking donations after being ‘overwhelmed’.
The centre, on Sidmouth Street, have been at the heart of the town’s fundraising plans, and announced on Monday, February 28 that they will be open on Sunday, March 6 to collect items.

These include large/medium backpacks; warm male socks; camping mats; sleeping bags, blankets, protein/energy bars; painkillers; anti flu meds; wound dressing materials; first aid kits; baby food; nappies/sanitary supplies; toothbrushes/toothpaste.
The organisation announced yesterday, Tuesday March 1, that they were in talks with Oxfam to help sort through donations, however the group have now confirmed that they must temporarily stop taking donations.
Speaking on their Facebook page, they said: "The Reading Ukrainian Club currently has too many clothing donations and we need to pause collections for a short while."
They have now released a list of other ways in which the community can support those in the Ukraine, including through charity donations or fundraisers.
