Are you at a loss for how to entertain the kids this Easter break?

With two weeks to fill Reading has the perfect array of free and low cost activities happening to keep them entertained all day long.

Young and old can look forward to a bumper treat over the break with plenty of exciting happenings around the town.

Reading Museum

From Egg Bingo to ‘Berty the badger’ trails, there are lots of things on offer for people of all ages.

In the Bertie’s Museum Nature Trail, families receive a craft pack for just £2.50, to help find all the hidden plant and nature related things around the museum. In the Eggy Bingo trail, if you find the egg shaped objects in the building you can collect a fantastic Easter prize.

Kids and adults alike who enjoy a touch of history and art, can enjoy a royal experience in viewing the new portrait of Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cambridge. This will be on display as part of the Duchess's 40th birthday celebrations and the Platinum Jubilee from April 7 to June 4 in the Welcome Gallery.

For those footy fans, you can catch the latest football themed exhibition through a unique gathering of ephemera, images, and mementos.

Fans of Reading FC will get a kick out of this. The ‘Collected: 150 years of Reading FC’ tells the story of Reading Football Club’s incredible journey, from a group of young townsmen playing on Kings Meadow to the heights of the national game.

Theatre and Arts

If you’re looking for a great and interactive family friendly show this Easter, Reading is offering a wide variety in different locations.

Reading Arts has several great shows on offer, including ‘Slime’ by the Herd Theatre over at South Street - a squishy, squelchy show about the lives of slug and caterpillar. For children aged 2-5 years and their families. Wednesday 13 April, 11am and 2pm. 

The Hexegon theatre is showing Fireman Sam Live – with ‘Sam saves the Circus’ on Saturday 16 April. Join Sam, Penny, Elvis, Station Officer Steele and Norman in an all-singing, all-dancing, action-packed show.

Finally for those scientists in the making, the ‘Morgan and West: Unbelievable Science’ show will be presenting captivating chemistry, phenomenol physics and bonkers biology fun for all the family.

You will also find lots of fun completely free activities in your local library branch or if the sun is shining take advantage of Reading’s glorious open spaces, such as Forbury Gardens and Abbey Ruins.
