FIREFIGHTERS were called out when a lorry caught fire on the A34 last night.
The driver had found a fault with the heavy goods vehicle and pulled over south of Whitchurch.
He was waiting for a recovery vehicle when the engine caught fire.
Dee Road Fire station received the call out at around 7.30pm, and a crew from Dee Road was joined by an engine from Newbury to help the team from Whitchurch.
The fire spread to the cab, but the driver was not in the vehicle and firefighters managed to tackle the blaze in about half-an-hour.
