FIRE crews from Tilehurst and Caversham formed part of a 20-strong team of engines battling a Windsor blaze last night.
Emergency services were called to the fire at 10pm at a terraced house in Park Street.
The roof and upper floors of the property partially collapsed along with scaffolding on the outside. There was also damage to the roof of a neighbouring property.
At least 85 firefighters from Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, London, Oxfordshire and Surrey came to fight the fire, with officials from the police, army , ambulance and Thames Water also attending the scene.
The fire was tackled by an aerial platform for almost four hours before the fire was eventually brought under control just before 2am.
Around 12 people were moved to emergency accommodation from nearby properties.
Fire crews sourced water from Windsor Castle to fight the fire, as the castle has its own water supply direct from the Thames.
