Here are our player ratings from Reading's impressive 2-1 win away at Cardiff City.

Rafael - 8

Commanded his area fantastically as he claimed more or less everything that was thrown into the box. Didn't have a huge amount of saves to make, given the quality of the defensive performance, but did so well when required.

Felipe Araruna - 7

Sustained a worrying looking injury which led to his substitution but defended well before that. Didn't give up any position on the field cheaply and kept the threat from the Cardiff left quelled.

Michael Morrison - 9

Gave Reading the lead with a stunning header after a beautiful delivery from Michael Olise and contributed just as much in defence. Brave in the challenge, strong in the air and disciplined in position.

Liam Moore - 8

Much like Morrison, Moore continues to impress and looks a new player under Paunovic. Or certainly back to his best, at least! Another great showing, put his body on the line to ensure Reading secured the three points. Led by example.

Omar Richards - 7

Struggled at times when Cardiff overloaded his flank but kept calm and grew into the game. Attacked well, supporting on the overlap.

Josh Laurent - 8

Matched the physicality of the Cardiff midfield and put in a really effective and tenacious display. Kept his composure well to set up Joao for Reading's second.

Andy Rinomhota - 8

Similar to Laurent, Rinomhota battled really well in the middle of the park and was calm and decisive in possession.

Michael Olise - 8

His delivery for the opener was a work of art. A stunning delivery which Morrison met really powerfully. On occasion, he did just need to be a tad quicker to release the ball - but all in all, another great display.

Ovie Ejaria - 6

Didn't quite have the influence that he does when he's playing at his peak and went missing for periods, but showed glimpses of the magic we've become accustomed too.

Yakou Meite - 7

Withdrawn with cramp after a really determined performance and displayed some really good close control to escape a few tight spots.

Lucas Joao - 9

Led the line superbly. Looked a menace and gave Cardiff's backline all sorts of problems both on and off the ball. Finished nervelessly to get Reading's second.

SUBS

Tom Holmes - 7

Came on for Araruna and did a really good job, in an unfamiliar position. Certainly stepped up to the mark and imposed himself on the game.

Tom Mcintyre - 6

Helped see the game out in the closing stages under considerable pressure.

George Puscas - 5

With Cardiff chasing the game, it was always going to be difficult for Puscas to really make his mark but he did his job relatively well and provided an outlet.
