CORNFORD Patrick "Paddy" Well known Berkshire violinist Patrick Cornford passed away soon after Christmas following many years battling ill health, aged 70. Born in Windsor he studied violin at Trinity College London under celebrated Hungarian tutor Professor Bela Katona who mentored many prestigious violinists, before joining the BBC Radio Orchestras in Bristol and London where he led the second violins. Earlier Paddy played in the Las Palmas Symphony Orchestra, and later in life taught at Reading Boys School up to his retirement when he pursued his interest in violin making and classic cars. Paddy was not only a versatile classical musician. He also played and toured in his early days with the Freddy Starr Orchestra. He joins his beloved wife Avril who passed away 15 years before, after for many years running her own Dance Schools in Ascot and Reading. He will be remembered by his children Fiona and Sean, and by his sister and brothers Anne, John, and twin Christopher (aka 'Monty').Tributes
