NEWS that 1,000 new flats have been approved for Reading will be welcomed by those concerned about the well-documented housing crisis.
Reading Borough Council has shown itself to be a progressive local authority, keen to support housing developments to meet the town’s growing population.
But it mustn’t forget to provide the necessary infrastructure alongside it.
It is a shame we don’t see more planning applications for new dental practices, new schools and new doctors surgeries.
The council needs to harness its powers to ensure there is adequate infrastructure alongside residential developments, ensuring the holistic needs of the community are met.
