Police have been responding to an incident at Reading Borough Council’s office this evening.
A number of police cars have descended to Bridge Street following an incident.
The marked police cars arrived at the scene on Bridge Street around 5:45pm.
According to passers-by, the officers surrounded a man who was arrested on the street in front of the council building.
It is not yet known why the individual was arrested.
A short time later an ambulance was also spotted outside the building were it is understood paramedics were on hand to provide treatment.
A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: "There was a fear for welfare incident which has now been resolved".
