I was at Reading Festival on Friday and saw they had a much greater focus on raising awareness around consent, which having just read your article on the high rates of sexual assault that have taken place at the festival, makes sense.
DEAR Editor, Caversham Lakes used to be a haven for flora,fauna and breeding water birds in the Spring including the occasional rarity. Many of us loved walking in the area and enjoying all of this withoutthe need to getinto the water or disturb the naturalinhabitants. Now itis just a mess. I do notimagine thatthe Chief Executive took this into account when he built and opened his ‘facility’ withoutthe correct planning permissions. Profit will have been his motive and it has backfired .I have no sympathy for him at all(though some for those who enjoyed swimming there). Itis notthe Council’s faultitis his entirely.
