Police are warning of a ‘supermarket distraction scam’ after a burglary outside a Tesco near Reading.
A thief distracted on shopper in the carpark at the Newbury store, in Pinchington Lane, while an accomplice stole a handbag from their car seat.
The news comes as part of a Christmas warning, with many scams circulating during the festive period.

This includes fake charities and online shops, texts requiring you to pay for a package to be delivered or illegitimate gift cards.
Police reminded resident not to click on any suspicious links or give out contact or banking details. Beware of fake vouchers from supermarkets or competitions on social media and do not share them to your friends, they said.
