A drunk burglar has been handed a six month suspended sentence after an offence near Reading.
The homeowners were inside the dwelling in Church Close, Lambourn, when Cathal Courtney, 26, trespassed at night with intent to steal on September 12, 2021.
A judge at York Magistrates’ Court on June 8 ordered Courtney, of Allison Street, Guisborough, Redcar and Cleveland, to abstain from alcohol for 90 days.

He must complete 120 hours unpaid work over 12 months – the length of time his jail sentence is suspended for.
Cathal was ordered to pay £69.99 in compensation, £85 in costs and a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
The total amount due, £282.99, must be paid by August 3.
