PHELAN Mary (aka Thomas) Passed away surrounded by family on October 11th at the John Radcliffe hospital aged 69 years. Devoted wife to Robin and dearly loved mother to Caitlin. We will miss her terribly. The funeral service will be held on Monday November 1st at 11:30am at Reading Crematorium South Chapel. Donations, if so desired, will be gratefully received for Sue Ryder.

Dear Robin and Caitlin,
I have just heard the devastating news of Mary’s death. I am so sorry . She was such a wonderful woman- kind, caring, thoughtful, gentle and full of energy. I worked with her at Caversham Primary for many years and felt very lucky if I was in a room with her talking to the children. She had such empathy and understanding of each child she encountered . She always had that sweet , gentle smile and would devote herself to you entirely whilst in engaged to conversation . She was so wise and encouraging , and always had time for people.
She adored you, Caitlin, and was so proud of you. I know this is heartbreaking for you both, and having lost my sister recently, I understand your pain right now.
I wish I’d known she was ill so I could have visited her.
Mary was remarkable. Her gentleness is present in her paintings. She left her mark on those around her and I will be forever grateful that I knew her.
Much love to you all. She will not be forgotten.
