THE Ministry of Defence joined Berkshire's emergency services today to practice a co-ordinated response to a terrorist attack on the Army base at Arborfield Garrison.
The MoD provided helicopters to support police, paramedics and firefighters, including crews from Wokingham and Bracknell stations during the civil contingency exercise at the home of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers.
The exercise involved a mock armed ground assault by terrorists - similar to those in Mumbai, India, in 2008 - but the MoD would not say what the targets of the attack were.
Similar exercises are carried out at least once a year by the MoD and emergency services around the country.
