THE Royal wedding is just weeks away but Woodley actress Laura Waddell is poised to bring the occasion to the screen early in her new film William And Kate.
Laura, 26, from Woodley, plays Kate Middleton's boss at Jigsaw in the new TV film which follows the Royal couple's romance and engagement.
The former Waingels College pupil, who has previously performed in West End shows such as Top Girls, Elegies and Hamlet, moved to Los Angeles last year to focus on her acting. She said: "I love it over here. It's one of those places that has got such a reputation but it's nice having the beach. I love coming home though.
"I actually met the director, Mark Rosman, last summer and we kept in touch and when the role came up he contacted me and asked me to try out for it."
The film, which stars Camilla Luddington, 27, from Priestwood, Bracknell, as Kate Middleton, and New Zealand born actor Nico Evers-Swindell as Prince William, was shot in Downtown LA earlier this year after the announcement of the Royal engagement.
Laura said: "It took a couple of weeks to film. Downtown LA is more like New York, it has a city feel. They set up Jigsaw offices and there were clothes and accessories everywhere. The project came about very quickly - they only contacted me in January. The producers wanted it to tie in with the Royal wedding.
"Being British I followed what was going on with the engagement and it's great that Kate is from Berkshire. It's nice to be part of something like that."
Footage of the film is being kept tightly under wraps and Laura will have to wait to watch it with everyone else on TV.
William And Kate is set to air on Lifetime in America on Monday, April 18. Although it is not confirmed whether the film will be screened in Britain, it will be released on DVD later this year.
