A PERSON died after being struck by a train at Reading West station today.
Police, an ambulance and a Network Rail response vehicle were on scene for around two hours and a police patrol remained there throughout the afternoon.
British Transport Police (BTP) were called at 11.56am and are not treating the incident as suspicious.
A South Central Ambulance was also called but medics pronounced the person dead at the scene.
Passengers travelling between Basingstoke, Reading and Newbury faced long delays and cancellations after the incident, involving a train running from Paddington to Bedwyn.
Trains were directed back through Reading West station around an hour later and the service is now returning to normal.
