A READING author has written his own “homage” to his adopted home town.
Oxford Road, by Derek Walsh, is the story of a man in his mid-thirties who comes to Reading and learns to love one of the town’s most iconic roads.
Mr Walsh, 47, and originally from Luton, moved to Reading in 2005 from Guildford.
He has lived in Chatham Place since 2009 and said: “Nobody has written about the road in this context. Yes, the novel highlights the Oxford Road but in a way it’s a homage to Reading.
“Many of the events that take place happen all over the town.”
This is his third novel and it was released as an e-book earlier this month but Mr Walsh would like to produce a print copy in the spring.
He said: “I finished writing it about a month ago and I just didn’t want to wait.
“Publishing a hard copy can take about eight months and I wanted to build some momentum by releasing an e-book.”
The e-book edition of Oxford Road can be found at www.amazon.co.uk and costs £2.05.
