I went to see Dreamboats and Miniskirts at the Theatre Royal, Windsor at Saturday’s matinee [August 16]. I had seen Dreamboats and Petticoats in 2012 and instantly fell in love with it, so much I went six times - four times at Windsor. When I realised there would be a sequel, I was over the moon.
The Dreamboats and Petticoats enterprise has everything you could love in a musical - a great storyline, fabulous music and an extremely talented cast.
I was thrilled to see familiar prequel faces and felt they flowed straight into this new show.
The new actors too showed they have much talent and fitted right in to their roles.
The music, voices and acting skills were top notch, showing sentiment and good humour within their characters. On occasion there was audience interaction and the actors smiled in response making it feel like part of the show.
The atmosphere was electric but relaxed. The energy of the actors on stage created a feel-good show. It was song after song and not one note was missed or tired.
They totally captivated the essence of the songs and pulled at the emotion being portrayed.
This was the first sequel I had seen in a theatre production so my hopes were high for Dreamboats and Miniskirts, and they were absolutely met.
It felt so fresh that I could have mistaken it for the first night. It was so jaw droppingly good that the only downside was that it had to end!
