A TAXI driver has been head-butted and racially abused by a customer after trying to drop them off in Tilehurst.
The cabby was setting down a man and woman in Severn Way on Friday night when the assault took place at around 11.35pm.
The pair got out of the vehicle when an argument broke out when they were asked to pay their fare.
During the scuffle the driver of the taxi was head-butted and racially abused by the male passenger.
He is white, in his twenties, around 5ft 5ins tall and of a slim build.
Police describe him as having short curly hair, prominent ears, blue eyes and was wearing light blue jeans, a patterned knitted jumper and trainers at the time of the incident.
Although a 28-year-old man from Reading has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm Thames Valley Police are still calling on any witnesses to come forward.
He has been bailed until July 22.
A spokesman for the force said: “Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed this. Please call 101 and ask for PC Leon Cunningham at Loddon Valley local CID.
“If you do not want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.”
