A 19-year-old man is in a serious but stable condition after being stabbed in the chest in Arborfield last night.
At around 11pm on Friday, January 6 the victim exited the number three bus from Reading in Baird Road.
As he approached the junction with Valon Road he was assaulted by a group of men in hooded tops and stabbed in the chest once, police said.
"The offenders are four white men in their 20s," said investigating officer detective sergeant Jonathan Chandler.
"We believe the offenders may know the victim and therefore this is not a random attack.
"Residents might see an increased police presence in the area as we conduct our enquries."
Thames Valley Police put up a screenwatch in place at the village and conducted door-to-door enquiries and took witness statements.
No arrests have been made.
Anyone with information should call 101.
