EMERGENCY services were called to Castle Street earlier this afternoon after a woman was seen laying on the floor outside of Reading Police Station.
It is not yet known if the medical episode was caused by a pre-existing condition, but paramedics attending the scene suggested the woman had fallen, or possibly collapsed.
South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the town centre at around 12.50pm.
The woman, of unknown age, is currently being treated at Royal Berkshire Hospital.
A spokesman for SCAS said: "Someone had fallen or possibly collapsed.
"This may have been as a result of a pre-existing medical condition.
"She was laying on the pavement, outside the police station on Castle Street.
"We received the emergency call at 12.49pm and sent a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene and the patient, a woman of an unknown age, was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
