NIGHTCLUBBERS watched on in horror after a man's head was stamped on three times.
Between midnight and 1am on April 8 a 31-year-old man who was standing in Station Road was pushed over from behind by another man.
The victim's head was stamped on at least three times before the offender walked away.
He sustained facial injuries and was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged, police said.
Investigating officer PC Danielle Willis, said: “I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.
"The assault took place on a busy night in Reading town centre and people may have seen the events which took place.
"If you did, please come forward and speak to police.”
A spokesman for the force said a 26-year-old man from Bramley, Hampshire, was arrested yesterday (April 8) on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was released under investigation.
