ANIMAL lovers came together to celebrate their fondness for tortoises.
Berkshire Tortoise Club held its third annual open day at the Charvil Piggott Primary School with a range of activities for children.
Arts and crafts, face painting, lucky dips and tombolas were all on offer, while Robert Wienensen from Medivet in Lower Earley giving a talk on tortoise care.
A wide range of breeds including Sulcata, Spur-thigh and Russian were displayed and a 130-year-old tortoise even made a guest appearance.
The club is in its third year after being set up by Olly Staines, a teenager from Caversham, after visiting Norfolk Tortoise Club and recognising the need for a club in Berkshire.
New members are always welcome and are able to join for just £5 for per year.
