THEALE Green School is set to become part of a multi-academy trust in an effort to improve student outcomes.
The West Berkshire secondary school will join forces with Reading College and UTC Reading as part of the Activate Learning Education Trust (ALET).
Sponsorship from Bradfield College was established in 2013 to run the school as an academy.
Ofsted inspected Theale Green in May and said the school 'required improvement' across the board, with Dr Sally Beeson standing down as head teacher shortly after the verdict was served.
Dr John Gate, chair of governors, said: “Our progress from a sponsored academy to part of the Activate Learning multi-academy trust is immensely positive and very exciting for the school.
“I am also delighted that Bradfield College will continue to work with the school as an educational partner.
“The ability of the school to access a broad range of services through the multi-academy trust will ensure we can strengthen our focus on teaching, learning and pupil progression.”
The trust will start supporting Theale Green staff and pupils immediately, with the transfer due to take effect by Spring 2018.
The school was plunged into special measures following a previous visit from Ofsted and Dr Beeson arrived in 2015 after serving as deputy head at Bradfield College.
She was replaced by Julie Turner in time for the start of the academic year.
Lee Nicholls, chief executive of ALET, added: “We welcome Theale Green School as the newest member of our trust and look forward to working with the staff, governing body and pupils and with our partners Bradfield College to accelerate the school on its journey towards being an outstanding school.
“Theale Green School will benefit from shared experience, expertise, training and resources of the larger group, as we all as the proven ALET methods that will improve the learning experience, results and destinations of pupils.”
Dr Chris Stevens, headmaster of Bradfield College, explained it was 'in the best interests of the school' to become part of the multi-academy trust.
He added: "We are confident that ALET will provide the school with a stable and successful future."
