A DRIVER has been rushed to hospital in a life-threatening condition after suffering from 'a medical episode' at the wheel.
Emergency services were called to Lower Earley Way at the Beeston Way roundabout at 10.40am on Wednesday.
The driver, thought to be in his 60s, has been taken to Royal Berkshire Hospital after an initial assessment.
A spokesman for South Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.40am with the caller reporting a single-vehicle road traffic collision.
"It seems the driver may have suffered a serious medical emergency at the wheel.
"We sent an ambulance, the Thames Valley Air Ambulance emergency response vehicle and a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle to the scene.
"After initial treatment, he was taken in a life-threatening condition to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
