VICTIMS of crime are being urged to come forward in the hope of re-uniting them with their stolen tools.

Thames Valley Police is urging anyone who has had power tools stolen from them to get in touch following the recovery of a number of items.

On May 11 this year, more than 90 power tools were recovered from a vehicle in Reading,k including a range of Makita, DeWalt and Bosch drills, along with garden strimmers and various angle grinders.

Anyone whose tools were stolen prior to this date is now urged to get in contact with police in case some of these recovered tools belong to them.

Officers now have a complete list of the tools and serial numbers from those recovered, and many of the tools recovered have identifying marks on them such as names or initials.

Crime Co-ordinator, Mark Heybourne of the Reading Investigation Hub, said: “I am pleased to be in a position to reunite these tools with their rightful owners.

"We have been working hard over the past few months to identify owners of these tools in a number of ways including checks on national databases and crime reports from across the country. However, with a number of tools carrying unique but unregistered marks on them, I believe there are a number of people out there who would recall these marks, enabling us to reunite them.

“I urge anyone who owns tools, whether they’re kept in a van, garage or shed, to mark them and make a note of the serial numbers. This could be as simple as taking a photo, but preferably also registering them on a national database such as Immobilse. This helps us to prove ownership and reunite stolen items with their rightful owner.”

If you believe that your tools may have been recovered, please email Mark.Heybourne@thamesvalley.pnn.police.uk with your crime reference number, the date your tools were stolen and details including any serial numbers, identifying marks or distinguishing features.

Alternatively you can call 101 and quote reference number 43180142727.
