SIGNIFICANT financial pressures are likely to result in the loss of more than 20 jobs at the University of Reading (UoR).
The Chronicle was approached by staff, who were told they were being consulted about changes to the staffing structure.
A UoR spokesman confirmed there would be job losses, following a restructure to portering and catering services.
They added: "These [pressures] have arisen out of an increasingly competitive student recruitment environment, the uncertainties of Brexit, the funding review and increased pension costs.
"The changes are likely to be implemented over the next couple of months.
"Our HR colleagues are working with the relevant services to put the new structure in place, with a clear focus on trying to avoid compulsory redundancies where possible."
The university is offering a voluntary redundancy scheme and it is thought the restructure will result in the loss of 24 jobs.
