THE jury has retired in a historic Reading murder trial.
Andrew Everson, who is accused of murdering David Watkins in Reading in 1993, was acquitted of murder in 1994 but is on trial again at Reading Crown Court following the emergence of “fresh evidence”.
The court heard how 30-year-old Mr Watkins was shot in the head in Searles Farm Lane, Pingewood, on January 14, 1993.
Mr Everson, 54, denies murder.
After more than four weeks of hearing evidence from the prosecution and defence teams, the jury retired at 11.50 on Tuesday, April 2.
