AN EXCITING 36-hour live radio show will be hosted by explorer scouts from 1st Purley and Pangbourne.
'Thre3-6ix Radio' will be broadcast from The Dolphin Centre on the banks of the Thames in Pangbourne, with full support from national Scout Radio and the backing of some well-known personalities, including musician Danyl Johnson.
It will take place during the weekend of May 10 - 12 as part of ongoing efforts to raise funds for international expeditions and community projects this summer.
The 36-hour radio marathon will be created, curated and presented by the explorers and their leaders, acting as a showcase for scouting in the community, as well as a unique fundraising opportunity.
The 13 members taking part will be joining the Berkshire Scouts Project Africa initiative, spending three weeks in Uganda to carry out important community projects.
There will be three school-based projects as well as one at the Jinja District Scouts Training Centre and Campsite in Buwenda.
In addition, two explorers will represent 1st Purley and Pangbourne at the World Scout Jamboree in West Virginia, USA.
Each participant has been required to raise funds for their respective trips (between £3,000 and £4,000 each).
This latest fundraiser is intended to act as a final push to help the explorers reach their goals with a bespoke Go Fund Me page set up.
The explorers are seeking support from the community to get behind the show, with all donations gratefully received.
The group are keen to give back, either through a shout-out, an advert or a song request.
