READING Gaol will be put up for sale later this year, according to the Ministry of Justice (MoJ).
The MoJ, who own the prison, announced in April they planned to sell the site.

According to the BBC, the MoJ have confirmed that this will go ahead later this year.
Campaigners have joined forces to try and save the Grade-II listed building which imprisoned Oscar Wilde in 1895 for ‘gross indecency’ at a time when homosexuality was illegal.
Since, his incarceration it has been hailed a 'Mecca' for the LGBT+ community
Notably, Reading East MP Matt Rodda started a petition to save the prison from being sold to the highest bidder.
Suggestions to turn the prison into an arts and heritage hub have been made by MP Matt Rodda and supported by Theatre Arts Reading (TAR).
