THIS shocking picture was taken at a Chinese restaurant in Reading which has since been closed.
Environmental officers found the cockroaches in Beijing Noodle House, on West Street, on July 11 and a hygiene emergency prohibition notice was served.
The case was heard in Reading Magistrates' Court on July 18.
The court issued a hygiene protection order which means the restaurant must close until improvements are made as the premises are a risk to public health.
The restaurant must apply to the council if it wishes to reopen and environmental health officers must approve this before it can serve customers again.
If the restaurant is suitable to open, the council will make regular visits to ensure they maintain standards.
However, if the premises remain closed, the council will inform them why and ask them to reapply when they believe they have carried out all necessary work to reopen.
