A new councillor has been elected to Reading Borough Council (RBC) in a by-election.
Conservative Jenny Rynn was elected to Kentwood ward in a by-election which took place alongside Thursday’s general election count at the Rivermead Leisure Centre.
Fellow Tory Emma Warman stood down as Kentwood ward councillor when the general election was announced, triggering the by-election.
Cllr Rynn stood in her place as the Conservative candidate and beat Labour’s Glenn Dennis by 392 votes.

The new Kentwood ward councillor said: “I am extremely honoured that Kentwood residents voted for me.
“I am looking forward to working with my colleague councillor Raj Singh.”
Cllr Rynn received 2,181 votes while Labour’s candidate Glenn Dennis received 1,789.

Gary Coster of the Liberal Democrats finished third with 556 votes while Green Party candidate Richard Walkem finished fourth with 302 candidates.
Kentwood ward consists of the northern part of the suburb of Tilehurst, in the west of Reading, south of the River Thames.
The ward is bordered by Mapledurham and Battle wards to the east and Norcot and Tilehurst wards to the south.
Cllr Rynn was born and bought up in Tilehurst and served as a councillor for eight years previously.
In her last year as councillor she was elected as mayor.

Councillor Cllr Singh won the seat from Mr Dennis by just six votes in 2018.
Cllr Singh kept hold of his seat on the ward earlier this year, beating Mr Dennis again – by 100 votes.
Mr Dennis has now lost to the Conservatives in the last three Kentwood ward elections.
