A WOMAN in her 70s has suffered a 'potentially serious' head injury after being hit by a bus yesterday (December 30).
Emergency Services arrived on the scene of a crash in London Road outside the Hope and Bear at around 6.30pm.
The 70-year-old woman was rushed to Royal Berkshire Hospital and is currently being treated for a serious head injury.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a 999 call at 18:28 yesterday with the caller reporting a collision between a bus and a pedestrian outside the Hope & Bear on London Road, Reading.
"We sent a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene. The pedestrian, a female in her 70s, had sustained a potentially serious head injury and following initial assessment and treatment was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
Reading Buses has confirmed that one of their double deckers was involved in the incident.
A spokesman said: "We can confirm that one of our buses was involved in a low speed incident yesterday.
"Although one person was taken to hospital we understand that this was a precautionary measure. "We are, of course, helping the police with their investigation."
