HERE ARE the photos of one of Reading's most iconic bars celebrating its 30th anniversary.
The Purple Turtle Bar, Gun street, is a staple of Reading's nightlife and has been since the bar first opened in 1990, and celebrated it's 30th anniversary this weekend with cheap drinks, music and a birthday cake.
The bar hosted a very busy '30th Birthday Party' on Saturday 25, marking the occasion by matching each year of business in drink prices every 15 minutes, meaning if you bought a pint in the first 15 minutes it would cost you a mere £1.20, the average drink price in 1990.

The event also matched the music to each year of business, playing alternative music from 1990 right up until 2012 throughout the night.
The event also celebrated with its own purple turtle cake.
The Bar also announced plans for the rest of the year that night, of which include events featuring the bar's very own circus, a female-focused month, Foosball tournaments, a blues festival, folk festival, and garden parties.
The Purple Turtle has been regarded as a staple of Reading's nightlife for its live bands, DJ sets, music events, comedy shows, and of course its drinks.
The bar also indirectly hit internet-sensation status in 2017 when an unsuspecting pedestrian was hit by a speeding bus just outside of the bar, causing him to be thrown to the ground, only for the man to calmly brush himself off and walk into the premises.
