1. Council take further legal action on travellers

After a traveller encampment was evicted from Tilehusrt, another was set up in Prospect Park.

The council said it is starting the process of evicting the group from the town's popular open space.

Amid national news of CoronaVirus chaos, it came to light on Friday, January 31 that the coach company transporting those back from China are in fact Horseman Coaches, based in Reading.

3. 'The Queen' and 'Boris Johnson' to party at The Pond House, Reading, on Brexit Day

Brexit was made official after three-and-a-half years on Friday, January 31.

Across the country many are marking occasionsion, celebratory or otherwise, and on e pub in Reading had 'Boris and the Queen' visiting for the evening...

4. Huge jump in self-harm across Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire

There has been a huge surge in the number of young people turning up to hospital after self-harming in Reading, Wokingham and West Berkshire.

The rate of people self-harming locally is above the UK average and has been described as a “national outlier” by an NHS boss.

5. Former children’s centre set to become SEN college

A former children’s centre in east Reading is set to be transformed into a special education needs (SEN) college for 11 to 18 year olds.

The vacant Hamilton Centre, on 135 Bulmershe Road, will be the new home for Phoenix College, currently based on Christchurch Road, if the plans are approved next week.
