A SCHOOLBOY has been left 'seriously injured' after being hit by a car in Burghfield this morning (Monday, February 3).
The collision took place in Reading Road at around 8am, and involved a dark coloured Volkswagen Golf.
The exact age of the boy is currently uncertain - police said he is 12, while South Central Ambulance Service said earlier today that he is 11. Police have been contacted for clarification on this.
The boy was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital for treatment.
Investigating officer PC Gareth Miles from the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, based at Three Mile Cross, said: "We are investigating this road traffic collision.
"We are asking anyone who may have witnessed this collision to please come forward."
A spokesman from South Central Ambulance Service said earlier today: "This was a collision between a car and a 11-year-old male that we received a 999 call about at 7.58.
"We sent an ambulance to the incident - fortunately the boy appears to have escaped injury but has been taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for further assessment."
Anyone with information should call 101, or make a report online, quoting reference 206 3/2/20.
