POLICE were scrambled to an attack outside the Victoria Pub in Tilehurst, Reading, last night.
A man was stabbed four times in the attack which happened shortly before 7.30pm.
Thames Valley Police said the victim, a man in his twenties, was stood at the bus stop in Norcot Road when he was stabbed four times in the leg and body.
South Central Ambulance Service was called to the scene by police at 7.25pm to reports that a male has been assaulted.
A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We sent a paramedic team leader in a rapid response vehicle and an ambulance to the scene.
"The patient had sustained a minor injury and following initial treatment was then taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital."
The victim was rushed to hospital and has since been discharged.
Police described the offender as around 5ft 7ins tall of small build and was wearing dark clothing.
Investigating officer Detective Inspector Marc Skinner of Force CID in Reading, said: “This is a serious incident in which a man has been stabbed.
“I believe there will be a number of people who would have witnessed what happened.
“If anyone was in the area and has dash-cam or CCTV footage, please get in touch.
“I am urging anybody with any information to call the 24-hour non-emergency number 101, quoting 43200068015.
“Alternatively, you can call the independent charity Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or make a report online.”
Reports of the police incident flooded social media late last night and Reading Buses tweeted that the bus stop outside the pub on Norcot Road is not in use due to the incident.
Due to a Police incident the Victoria stop towards RDG is not in use at this time. We will stop just past the stop where it is safe to do so

It reported the closure of the bus stop shortly before 8.30pm.

The pub is at the junction of School Road, Norcot Road, Kentwood Hill, and Armour Road.
