The Tilehurst bank is expected to close on Friday, May 29.
He said: "At Barclays Tilehurst branch, customer usage has continued to fall and 85 per cent of our customers now use telephone and online banking, which is why we have taken the difficult decision to close it."
Barclays explained customers will receive a letter, a decision to close document and posters will be displayed in branch.
It will also be engaging with local businesses and the wider community to discuss alternative ways customers can bank before the branch closes.

Colleagues will also be on hand to assist customers with any concerns they may have.
A 'tea and teach' session will be held at the Tilehurst branch for customers wishing to explore digital banking.
Mr Davies added: “We hope that the availability of our nearby Barclays branch at 90-93 Broad Street, Reading, just over three miles away, along with our range of digital channels, will help to ease the transition for our customers.”
Barclays Bank in Thatcham will close on Friday, June 12, and in Caversham it will close on Thursday, June 4.
