VIEWS and opinions of the public about the social housing waiting list in West Berkshire are being sought.
Ahead of changes to who gets priority on the list, people are being asked to give their views of the proposals.
The changes include helping vulnerable children and adults, and how affordable homes are matched to who gets to live there. The choice-based lettings scheme, Homechoice West Berkshire, is run by West Berkshire Council.

Councillor Hilary Cole (Con, Chieveley & Cold Ash), lead for housing, said: “The proposed changes will ensure that social housing, including affordable housing, is allocated to people who have a genuine housing need and that the most vulnerable applicants are given the highest priority.
“This will make best use of affordable housing in the district while supporting safe and sustainable communities.”
The proposed changes to the housing allocations policy include replacing the current system, where points are awarded to choose priority, to a banding system instead.

Members of the public can take part in the consultation by filling in a survey, which closes at midnight on Sunday, May 3.
Cllr Cole said: “We are inviting residents and stakeholders to have their say on our draft housing allocations policy and in particular our proposal to change from a points based system to a banding system.
“I would encourage as many people as possible to provide their views by completing the consultation survey.”
