A WHOLESALERS battling back against the coronavirus lockdown has started its own 'call and collect' service.

Reading and Earley residents feeling stuck when getting hold of the essentials amid the coronavirus chaos can still buy their food from Brakes safely.

The national wholesaler company has introduced the new service, known as the 'Food Shop'.

It ensures the public can still buy their food essentials in a safe manner.

The new 'Food Shop' stations have been set-up across the country, with one being placed locally in Suttons Business Park, Earley.

Adam Collet, UK Marketing Director, said: "By launching this service we will be able to take some of the pressure off local supermarkets and, by offering the option to buy bigger packs, or in bulk, it reduces the number of shopping trips that people need to make, which in turn supports the latest government advice to minimise social contact.

but we plan to extend the service to our other depots across the UK as soon as possible and will make further announcements as this happens."
