JEN and Rob, a married couple from Reading, are currently on our TV screens taking part in the reality show Race Across the World.
The pair have been battling out in the BBC Two show against others to travel across the world without grabbing a flight to win a cash prize of £20,000.
The pair has taken the time to speak exclusively about their experience to the Reading Chronicle (don’t worry fans of the show there are no spoilers).
Race Across the World sees five pairs of contestants race from the top to bottom of Latin America: from Mexico City to the most southernly city in the world, Ushuaia in Argentina
Competitors are unable to use smartphones, the internet or credit cards and only have the cash equivalent of a one-way airfare.
There are currently four teams left on the show - after one couple were forced to drop out having lost their money - and they have reached the half-way mark in the 25,000km race.
Based on what viewers have seen so far, Rob revealed his favourite country to visit during the experience was Belize describing the atmosphere there as “incredible”.

He explained: “We arrived there on Independence Day which was just amazing.
“We were just hit with a wall of carnivals, everyone partying, and just beautiful coastlines, beautiful islands.
“Just an incredible place to visit.”
Jen added she “loved the bears” they visited at a rescue sanctuary in Peru revealing “that was a highlight of my life let alone the trip”.
Despite the highs, the couple revealed tiredness, hunger and constant decision making made the trip stressful at times.
Rob said: “I think it’s just the stress levels associated with trying to make decisions based on next to no information.”
Jen added: “It was decisions, decisions, thinking, plan forward what’s the next thing.
“It’s really draining.
“To try and team that in with getting the most out of the places and really enjoying the experience is like a fine art of getting that balance right.”
As a child, Rob suffered from Cholesteatoma, an abnormal collection of cells leaving him deaf in one ear.
During the operation to remove the disease, Rob lost all the hearing in his ‘good ear’ and now relies on his other weak ear which only has 20 per cent hearing.
Following the operation, Rob explained “Jen turned into more of a nurse than a wife”.
He said: “I turned from a fairly successful engineer and then there I was at thirty odd years old having to be led to the toilet and washed in the bath.”
Taking part in the show has made the couple’s relationship stronger and Jen revealed “it’s like a different marriage” now they’re home.
She explained “we have overcome some huge obstacles” and feels there is nothing the couple can’t overcome.
Race Across The World continues Sunday April 5, 8pm on BBC Two.
