POLICE have issued a warning about burglars targeting renovated houses.
The force has seen an increase in people stealing high value tools from houses having work done in Reading.
On Twitter, Thames Valley Police send out the warning to residents: "Reading Priority Crime Team are currently dealing with a small rise in burglaries concerning renovated housing where offenders are breaking in and stealing high value tools/equipment.

"If you are having 'essential' work done at this challenging time please ensure you look at installing CCTV, door bell cameras, light sensors or timer lights.
"Ensure you know your builders and that they keep no tools at your address overnight.
"Ensure they have records and serial numbers of all of their equipment.
"Please also ensure you are following government guidance with the work being undertaken. #Don'tmakeiteasy."

The warning comes in the midst of the coronavirus lockdown, where people are being told to avoid any contact with people outside of their homes.
