A FUNDRAISING page has been set up to raise money to keep a café “alive” after the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.

A Crowdfunder has been set up by the owners of Orsino’s Coffee Co who run the coffee van at Tilehurst station.

Owners, Emma, James and Tom, hope to raise £1,700 and explained they are fundraising “to keep our café alive after the Covid-19 pandemic so we may continue to serve the community of Tilehurst”.

The coffee van has been forced to close due to the pandemic and the owners said they are not eligible for any government business support and have “been left in an increasingly difficult position with rent and bills”.

They said: “We are asking for donations - large or small - in the hope that we can pick up our business, shake it off, and continue to serve the local community their beloved luxuries when this crisis is over, whenever that may be!”

The team has raised £1,370 of their £1,700 target so far at the time of writing.

The owners said: “We have a target of £1,700.

“We have tried to be as modest as possible with this amount but the reality is we have no idea how long it will be until we potentially open our doors once again.

“If we can reach this amount there is a good chance we can pick up where we left off and welcome you all once again with great coffee and homemade cakes.”

They added: “We know these are difficult times for many so be assured every single donation will help us!

“For anyone who can give a substantial amount we are offering a huge THANK YOU and a freebie if and when we open up again.”
