A READING FC shirt reading 'NHS Heroes' on the back has been donated to the Royal Berkshire Hospital.

The signed shirt, which will be framed at the hospital, was sent to boost morale to staff working on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic.

Money is also being raised through a Go Fund Me page in order to provide a 'refuelling station' to NHS staff in Reading.

The page reads: "Reading Acute Medical Unit, ICU and Community District Nurses are now struggling and desperately need local support to provide a refuelling station.

"They need food and drinks to 'grab and go'.

"The NHS 'Front Line' needs our support now, as much for morale as for their nutrition and ongoing strength.

A nurse told us “we feel anxious, we feel fear and we keep going because we love our job and feel a huge responsibility to continue to give the best care we possibly can to all our house bound vulnerable patients."

Posting the football shirt donation to the page, a post reads: "This is a different type of post to boost morale at the hospital - I’ve had a reading FC shirt donated signed and personalised.

"Thank you all so much."
